HARD-WORK CHANGES AN ORDINARY MAN TO EXTRA ORDINARY DESTINY
A very good day to my fellow guests and toastmasters.
How apt the topic is to us in our life.
We won’t be here today if we are not hardworking and willing to go that extra mile in becoming a better speaker.
Do you agree with me?
We want to be a better communicator in our daily life to our mirror image.
That is you all, the audience’s
At this juncture, my experience comes flashing through my mind.
I still vividly remember 5 decades ago during my primary school around 11 or 12 years old. I was a playful and obstreperous boy. Who was in the last class all that while?
As I had no zeal to study and progress since I was in my comfort zone.
Let me ask the audience a question!
How many siblings do you have in your family?
Two, 4 or 8 max.
In my family, I have 16 siblings and I am the number 15th.
Of course One dad and one mom!
You can imagine -the amount of pampering I would have got.
If you are in my shoes, will you study?
Surely most of you won’t, like me.
My life changed one fine day.
“DO OR DO NOT. THERE IS NO TRY” like the YODA saying in EMPIRE STRIKE BACK.
When one of my classmates challenged me- Can you get a better result than me in the final exam.
That made me, dejected, frustrated, and a burning desire to prove him wrong.
Though it would be a herculean task.
Let me ask you another question.
What was your ranking during class exams?
Perhaps 1st,5th, or 20th in the class.
Am I, right?
I will be the last boy in the last class!!!
However, I took that challenge and worked hard like the ANT.
I started learning the alphabet, multiplication, spelling and reading with the help of my elder siblings.
At the final exam, I became the 1st boy in the class.
My classmates and teachers were shocked by my unanticipated achievement.
It brought cheers and joy to my family members.
From then on, there was no turning back for me like the saying “ OBSTACLES DON’T KEEP A CHAMPION DOWN; THEY MAKE THEM FIGHT HARDER.”
The flame of progress and challenge within me got ignited.
I completed many exams and in each exam, I did better than the previous.
Till I entered a medical college and became a doctor.
Completed my master's in surgery.
Now, I am teaching and training many a brilliant students to become healers and life-saving scalpel users.
Back to you - as I told you earlier.
hard work changes an ordinary man to an extraordinary destiny.
As we all want to be a better speaker.
So that we are at ease in communicating with others.
And if possible, we want to be a world champion in public speaking.
It will come to reality if we put that hard work
