HUMILITY OVERCOMES PRIDE AND EGO

I would like to share my experience of overcoming ego/pride in workplace today.

I requested few days back my medical officer to prescribe and collect the medication for me;that I will take from her today.

As today, after my visiting consultant rounds ,I asked the doctor for my medication. She was busy, told me it is with the nurse in the clinic.I went to clinic to collect the medication.

The nurse dutifully handed over the prescription in stead the medication. It really perturbed my annoyance and disturbed my ego.

However with silence, I took the prescription to the pharmacy. On the way I met another medical officer, who was kind enough to offer to collect the medicine for me.

By then I have decided fo collect the medication myself since I know the senior pharmacist. When I went there I noticed two young staffs were mending the inpatient counter.

They asked me to go to outpatient counter.I asked for the pharmacist? They said ,their pharmacists.I asked them do they know me?

They saw me for awhile, then, they said they can dispense the medicine.By then my ego being disturbed. So I told them it is okay.I will go through normal procedure of collecting my medicine.

My pride and mental chatter stimulated me to react and create a scene. But my humility in me, made me calm and take it as a challenge to go through normal process to  check how common people face adversity.

Thus I went to the outpatient pharmacy counter passed the prescription and waited for medication. To my amazement it was hassle free to  collect my medication as an ordinary patient.

The lesson learned from this encounter are suppress your ego and pride.Let humility to rule you to have a pleasant and positive experience of any situation .
