Unfortunate Elderly Patient
This 81 year old lady a widow. She was a muslim married to a hindu and llived a life of hindu.
She n her husband,my patients for many years. Her husband died few years back.
In between this 2 years, I didn't see them in my follow up.
However few days back she turned up at my clinic and she was profusely happy to be consulted by me.
She had loads of medical complaints and issues from her headache to knee pains to abdominal pain n difficult to breath.
Beside that she got loads of social problems such as her children's abandoned her after taking her saving and properties.
Only her neighbour malay lady helping her with the meals and bringing her to hospital.
Realising so many clinical issues with so much social problems.I decided to admit her and do the investigations and treatment for her as inpatient. If not, she have to make multiple clinical visits which may not be feasible for her.
As an inpatient, all her medical issues were attended by various disciplines and treated effectively for past few days.
Unfortunately she succumbed to lung infection and died recently.
It is very unfortunate and difficult life to some senior citizens, when there is no proper understanding between children and elderly parents.
You did ur best...but she got her calling from almighty to free her from suffering more.may her soul rest in peace.
