The Tip Top Surgeon

The surgeon who inspired and trained many surgeons for more than 5 decades.

His dedication and hardwork to the field of surgery is boundless.

I still remember the sound of his shoes, walking into the surgical ward at Kota Bharu Hospital at 7am and 8pm almost everyday which brings the best care to the patients and also shivers to the junior doctors to be up to the mark with their presentations.

He was one surgeon who knows all the patients at his finger tips.It was a wonder to us as junior doctors, how he could and we couldn't.

He may be firm and shrewd with his comments that one should have a good grasp of the lingo.

We may not know he is poking or praising because he neither smiles nor raises his voice.

Though it was 30 over years back during my housemanship, I still remember his teaching and the way he carries himself as a surgeon with his tip top dressing.

The dedication and discipline of him as a surgeon inspired me and many others to take up surgery.

I hoped and dreamed that I could do at least half of what he could do if I became a surgeon.

I am still working on it but I can only be what I am only.

It came to my realisation that, there is no one who can be that surgeon other than one and only Dato Mr.Kanda. He is the grandmaster of surgery for his diehard followers.
