My Dad,My Hero

My father is a good man, a stubborn man and a man I will never be half as good.

He has the benefit of an education that was delivered by people who were truly motivated educators. He was exposed to poetry, he knows Latin and was an excellent scholar who studied more than one species while I struggled with only one.

He was a good son and a good father. These two roles I doubt I will ever be able to hold a candle to him. I am quite sure I never will. I accept that failure with grace.

He has shown me what kindness and charity is, he showed what it was to be a gentleman before I learnt it from books. He showed me the joys of reading and encouraged the habit in me and I am forever grateful.

I may not be able to have long talks with him for we are often too strong headed and opinionated. But I do love him a lot and support him in his endeavours.

I have no demands of him other than he continue to be himself and happy. I apologise that he will probably not see any grand children, another aspect where I am a failure to him. But I am thankful that he and my mother seem to accept me for all my faults and multiple inadequacies. I am truly blessed to be their son.
