Rakan KKM May Burden Medical Staff
The recent MOH implementation of its plans are rather intriguing especially in regards to 'The Rakan KKM' and gazettement specialists' allowance.
I think we are not addressing the elephant in the room. The main issue is increasing the medical staffs in tandem to the highly demanding work required in the medical field. Also addressing the pay upgrade and technogical advancements which is required for the current trend of treatment.
However, they are barking up the wrong tree, again.
The 'Rakan KKM' programme will definitely make the medical staff to focus on paying patients rather than non paying patients since there is reward in return. Well, this is the main reason why so many doctors are leaving to the private sector - the lucrative pay.
Does the MOH plan to build new private wings and employ more staffs?
Are they recruiting more workforce to ensure appropriate service can be provided?
Otherwise, the current cohort of workers may not be able to cope with additional work and cramped wards to cater for the added paying patients who would certainly prefer better service for their payments.
So does it actually solve the problem or instead make it worst?
The second issue, regarding payment of allowance for gazetting specialist. It appears as though we are rebranding what used to be existent, the difference is that the payment is given on commencement of gazzettment whereas previously it was backdated payments. There is no extra allowance given to the gazetting specialists.
I really wonder what is the thought process behind all this new implementations which are recycled old ideas that doesn’t solve the current dilemmas, but instead raises more queries.
I think we should face the bull by the horns, focus on increasing manpower and offering payments which are attractive to retain and gather more workers. Otherwise, more will be ever ready to leave for better opportunities.
A task force with dynamism should be formed to sort this burning issues as soon as possible with workable ideas before things get out of hand.
Moh staffs are over stretched with medical colleges using the facilities, increasing subspecialties and hospitals
ReplyDeleteBut the pay increase or increasingly the staffs
They dont see.
But with available or less staffs- they expect more by stretching the staffs beyond their stress.
