Dive Trip To Komodo Island,Labuan Bajo

It was decided after a deep thought of the trip since need to dig deep into the pocket.

It was a liveaboard dive trip!

We booked a four day trip.We had seven of us in the group.

We took a fligt from Kuala Lumpur to  Labuan Bajo.It was around a 4-hrs flight.

Labuan Bajo is a fishing town located at the western end of the large island of Flores in the East Nusa Tenggara province of Indonesia. It is in Komodo District. It is the capital of the West Manggarai Regency, one of the eight regencies on Flores Island.

We stayed near to dive centre at the town with many seafood stalls n very friendly people.
Meantime dive instructor Ben arranged the  necessary dive gears and permits for dive at that region.

The day of dive trip.We were taken from jetty by speed boat to our stay in boat for next four days.It was a wooden boat with compact rooms with dive platform.

The first day we did 3 dives of which afternoon, evening and night dive.

It was good visibility underwater. We saw so many macro n micro water species to   name few, stingrays, blacktip reef sharks, massive manta rays gliding above us, seasnakes, number of cuttlefish which able to camouflage with electrifying speed which I able to see very close for reasonable time and
few friendly turtles grazing the hard and softs corals for their meal.

The flora of underwater garden made up soft and hard corals with various hues and sizes which is beautiful to see.

The night dive was mesmerised by the seahorse, colourful crab, bright lionfish and everything around looks dark the florescent luminating planktons becomes the light on wavig our hands in pitch dark.It is a sight to behold to the few divers on that night.

The second day was early morning hike with many other tourists to watch Sunrise. It was like Jurassic park scenery.Followed by visiting the Komodo national park and  get close to komodo lizards which was a dream come true. There many scattered in this park and few islands around it There are a round three thousands komodo lizards in this region according to the park rangers .However only at Komodo national park  humans and the lizards live together in harmony.

The day three was more of experiencing the power of ocean, to swim through different types of strong underwater currents the locals called shotgun since it is a short distance with rapid and speed drift of the divers by the underwater current, washing machine n swirling that we need to drift through or go against it which was challenging. Along the flow of the drift, we saw many turtles and flora of underwater with very good clarity.

On day four we disembarked at noon but not before our two morning dives. We had a good long view of few mammoth manta rays stopping by their cleaning station for more than an hour.

We got a rare chance of closely watching them to our fullest satisfaction in moderate current by hooking to the rocks closes to them.

Freedom is where silence meets the beauty of the blissful deep ocean. It was a gift to be roughed up by the  harsh conditions of creation. To experience the beauty that only reveals itself to those willing to endure. The one who dives deep into the sea alone gets the pearls, not the one who dives only up to the depth of his ability.
