Comrade In Arms

Back in the year 1990, I still vividly remember the day Dr.Alwi called me using the landline. At that time, I was 3 months into Housemanship in my surgical posting at Kota Bharu Hospital, Kelantan. It was a busy weekday midmorning when I was reviewing patients in the surgical ward. My surgical registrar informed me that there is an individual from KL who would like to speak with me. The landline he called was to the consultant surgeon's room. So, I went to my consultant's room with full of fear and nervousness. The kind consultant passed me the old dial phone receiver at that time, which was the only mode of communication.  I was surprised it was Alwi, my friend. We were the few Malaysians who studied together at Sri Ventaswarar Matriculation School,Madras, Tamilnadu,India. After which we both joined medical college. I joined Kilpauk Medical College and he joined a medical college in Karnataka, a southern state in India. We occasionally met up in Madras whenever he camedown ...

Current Malaysian Political Situation

It shows the conservative malays have full control of the majority malays n infiltrated into the secular areas too. If present government doesn't do anything drastic to stop the conservative malays. They will lose nx election with shrinking non malays.  It's not that easy with so deep indoctrination in religious practice n subsidise. It is not easy to change them in 5 yrs. But Anwar is a brilliant politician. May be able to do something in another 5 yrs to change their mindset though it may be a herculean task for him. BN lost its grassroot support; that goes to BN parties( MCA N MIC) ,which is race based. I opine their goner n going to be a party of past. Currently, there is going to be a 2 party system in our country. The parties, which being an opposition previously, have become the main players. It is going to be secular/moderate versus conservative/race base, which is PH or PN. It is an advantage in away, but it is between moderate and extreme governing the country. So w...

In Politics

A fight in politics will start throwing dirty linens in the streets. A friend in politics, even a crook, will be portrayed as an honest person. It is the citizens' to select their rightful leaders.

But I wanna ask u...wether it wi become the burden for your mental health and further cause you avoid the surgery? Answer  I live through it - a good example.  It is the reason when the time comes.  I am going to stop practising 😅 It makes u ,in a way, humble n simple - I opine  No surgeons can escape it if he or she wants to be a surgeon. A Poem Of A Mentor

In the vibrant land of Penang's embrace, There lived a leader with a noble face. A surgeon with a beard, wisdom to impart, A teacher of life, shaping minds, a true art. Hardworking by nature, relentless in stride, He walked the streets where street food thrived. A lover of flavors, he sought the divine, In hawker stalls, savoring tastes, so fine. Beyond the scalpel, he wore a diplomat's cloak, Building bridges with words, fostering hope. In global arenas, his voice held sway, A champion of peace, paving the way. As a teacher, he guided with patience and grace, Igniting minds, imparting knowledge's embrace. In classrooms, he kindled flames of desire, To learn, to grow, to reach higher and higher. A leader he stood, with a vision so bright, Inspiring the masses with his radiant light. Empowering others to find their own voice, To shape the world, make their mark, rejoice. In Penang's embrace, his legacy grew, A fusion of talents, rare and true. A surgeon, a teacher, a d...

Last Day Of Work With U

Today marks my last day in the department. I have so many things to convey to you especially, over the short cause of duration i have served my time in the department, you touched our souls multiple times with how you do certain things, you keep your routine very closely to heart, and you keep them with integrity. I really look up to those qualities.  For the most part, thank you for sharing the burden. When i first came to you and told you about what i went through in entirety, i felt as if a very big and heavy boulder was lifted off of my weak shoulders. Your quick thinking in grasping the situation and wisdom in handling it with absolute experience, has actually saved my future. You just saved a life.  I hope i am able to keep reading Dr Kanika’s entries in the web. Keep the ink and pen flowing.  Take care. May you be protected from adversity and be blessed from prayers . * Written By A MO

On Duty Dilemma Of Specialists

Why 8/7 so desperate with even 10 surgeons. I am perplexed around 9 surgeons. Not one can do! That an old n going to retire surgeon ,still must come to help. It is not ,I don't want to do call ,I am a bit taken back ,there is,around 9 excluding me n can't do. If you had told me ,Mr Naga ,you are going to retire.I give you a  chance to do active call. I would have agreed  the 1st time itself.  I was surprised n just thought after I retired. How will the department will run and their cooperation will be.In spite from one surgeon hospital, I have increased to 10 surgeon hospital. It is not inconvenience. But I came to picture of the work understanding in future without me. Also made me reminiscent of my past experience from the current situation.Of course, as a head of department.I absorb the impact by sacrificing my comfort many a times if this kind of situation comes and  if I find all  are genuinely committed. I remember every time this kind of situation ...
