Timor Leste πŸ‡ΉπŸ‡± A Gem That Will Remain Close To My Heart

Timor Leste is a new country in South East Asia(SEA), which broke off from Indonesia after decades of struggle and got their independence in 2002. It was my long-time dream to visit this place as I have completed travelling to all the countries in SEA except Timor Leste. However, I was unable to go earlier as the flight was very costly with multiple transits and long waiting duration before reaching my destination. Fortunately, Batik Airlines introduced a direct flight from KL to Dili, which was around 4 hours, and  flight tickets cost only half the initial price. Hence, I decided to travel this July with my dive master and good friend, Ben.Luckily, our  accommodation   and transportation got sorted out as Ben's good friend was a principal at an international school in Dili. Well,I was happy about the arrangement because at Timor Leste, the official currency used is US dollars, so it can be expensive to travel in this country if we need our own lodging and transporta...

Role Of Grandparents At Current Times

I understand the general dynamics of grandparents as caregivers written by the writer. But the author didn't go deep into the reality of grandparentsas caregiver.More the input on the illusive concept of all is well with the arrangement.  It is a win-win situation with can't rock the boat much - as this requires a status quo reasonings. I don't agree in certain aspect with the writer. As the child needs to grow n care giving is necessary  At the sametime the elderly parents have toiled all their lives, and they need their time which they earned it Beside elderly parents to  need to be cared due to their ageing process. However, this is overlooked by society and the writer as an expert bcos the socioeconomic condition and emotional bond,  traps the elder to the care of their grandchildren.  It should be in idealistic situation, where the grandparents can give their genuine love as a what a grandparents should give with no bond attach or restrictions of fre...

Rakan KKM May Burden Medical Staff

The recent MOH implementation of its plans are rather intriguing especially in regards to 'The Rakan KKM' and gazettement specialists' allowance. I think we are not addressing the elephant in the room. The main issue is increasing the medical staffs in tandem to the highly demanding work required in the medical field. Also addressing the pay upgrade and technogical advancements which is required for the current trend of treatment. However, they are barking up the wrong tree, again.  The 'Rakan KKM' programme will definitely make the medical staff to focus on paying patients rather than non paying patients since there is reward in return. Well, this is the main reason why so many doctors are leaving to the private sector - the lucrative pay. Does the MOH plan to build new private wings and employ more staffs? Are they recruiting more workforce to ensure appropriate service can be provided? Otherwise, the current cohort of workers may not be able to cope with additi...

Metamorphosis Of A Surgeon

As a retired surgeon, I recently gave a speech at a conference and noticed surgeons at various stages of their careers. Having gone through all those stages myself, I’m now pursuing my second childhood dream - to be an adventurer and traveller. I decided to call this reflection 'The Metamorphosis of a Surgeon' It involves five stages: Trainee Surgeon Junior Surgeon Intermediate Surgeon Senior Surgeon Retired or Mentor Surgeon Trainee Surgeons At this stage, one must go the extra mile to learn the knowledge and skills required to become a competent surgeon. It’s not like before, when we learnt through trial and error as the saying went: “You see one, assist one, and then do one.” Now, there are enough seniors to teach and supervise. Back then, most surgeries were open procedures. Today’s trainees must master both open and technologically advanced surgical methods. It’s no easy task as it demands hard work, dedication, and an innovative mind. Junior Surgeons This group needs to s...

Makan Secukup Dan Jangan Tamak

Training And Discipline Are Parcel Of Adventure Sports

Son why you left? I had told you that I had done my job that I promised to assist  Pam to go up Mt Kinabalu one day and I have done it. To Latha,I will assist her to go up  EBC which also,I have done it. So I have done what I have promised.  You know me well, I am very focused and disciplined in anything which I take up. Not in winning or coming 1st. But doing justice to what I am undertaking. As such, I can't be in a group that doesn't show any respect or value to exercise. It is not the aim of trekking expedition. But training for the expedition which is the essence of it  I dont see any of it ,other than eating competition with the group members of hikers. I dont want to face a situation with injured team members in trekking expedition, and I regret over it. My regret n upset will be worse if I know they never trained or given their best of ability in training for the trekking trip.  I  can save myself n not others if they are not trained n injured...

Not like my time whe...

" Do what you can with what you have at where you are." Theodore Roosevelt  As  a doctor, what is required in real life situation as working in medical field. The 1st duty of the doctor is to be *caring* - u doing it now. The 2nd duty of the doctor is to be *compassionate* - u r learning it now. The 3rd duty of the doctor is to be *patient listener,* which u r practising now. The 4th duty of the doctor is to *heal* the sick, which will come to you if you practice the above three.
